Setting Up the Hole Standard Library in SolidWorks
Issue:
When opening SolidWorks, users may encounter the following error message:
"Hole Standard data is unavailable in the Hole Wizard library."
To resolve this issue, users must ensure that the Hole Library is properly set up and matches the correct version.
Resolution:
Follow these steps to verify and set up the correct Hole Library in SolidWorks:
Step 1: Verify Hole Library Path
- Open SolidWorks.
- Navigate to Tools > Options.
- Under the System Options tab, select Hole Wizard/Toolbox. Click OK if a message box appears showing the version.

- Check the path under Hole Wizard and Toolbox folder.
- Ensure it points to the correct library location by selecting the other SolidWorks Data folder.
Step 2: Reinstall SolidWorks and Toolbox
- If the issue persists, uninstall SolidWorks completely.
- Reinstall SolidWorks using the SolidWorks Installation Manager.
- During installation, ensure that Toolbox/Hole Wizard options are defined correctly. Select "Create a new SOLIDWORKS <version> Toolbox" if you want to create a new toolbox while keeping the old version.
Select "Use an existing SOLIDWORKS Toolbox" if you want to upgrade the old toolbox to the latest version.
- Complete the installation and restart the system.
- Open SolidWorks and verify if the issue is resolved.
