If you have a schematic created in AutoCAD or any other DWG-based CAD application and want to make it compatible with the HyDraw CAD program, there are two methods to convert it into a HyDraw schematic:
If the required symbols are not available in the HyDraw library, or if you prefer to use the existing symbols from the AutoCAD schematic, you can follow the steps below to convert them into HyDraw-compatible symbols:
- If the symbol is a block reference object, explode
the AutoCAD symbol and remove the port names.
- Go
to the System tab → Convert group → Run Convert to HyDraw command.

In
the Convert to HyDraw dialog box:
- Click
the Select Object button.

- Select
the symbol geometry and specify the insertion point, then click Convert.
- Once converted, the symbol will display its properties in
the HyDraw Property Manager. You can now enter the relevant details.

- Next, go to the Circuit tab and use the Symbol Port command
to add ports to the converted symbol.

- Alternatively,
you can also add or edit ports by editing the symbol directly.
- Using the Convert to HyDraw command, you can also convert the connections line.
Once you convert the AutoCAD symbols and connection lines into HyDraw CAD format, you’ll be able to use all available HyDraw commands for design and validation. Additionally, you can create your own custom symbol library by adding the converted symbols to your library.
