Understanding the Role of Component Code and Component Group in HyDraw CAD

Component Code is used as a prefix in a symbol’s Item ID. It also helps in grouping symbols based on their component codes.
To display the component code in the drawing, you need to enable the "Group by component code" option in the HyDraw settings.
Refer to the attached screenshot for guidance.

Component Groups are used to identify the type of items—for example, a slip-in cartridge insert or a check valve.
They also allow to filter and locate the required symbols based on specific criteria. This becomes particularly useful when using the Advanced Search feature in HyDraw CAD. Additionally, Component Groups are used in various HyDraw commands such as: Export to MDTools, among others.

Some internal logic in HyDraw CAD depends on specific Component Groups. Examples include:
  1. Motor/Pump/Adapter component groups trigger a special selection window.

  2. Slip-in Cartridge Insert and Cover component groups are required to group two symbols into a unique footprint for MDTools.
  3. The Slip-in Cartridge Insert group enables double B ports on related symbols.
  4. The Hose component group defines components that can be numbered using the Hose Assembly logic.
