When there is an issue with highlighting not appearing on selected items, first check all of the settings that relate to the highlighting.

Additionally, try typing the SELECTIONEFFECT command within the command line and making sure the setting is set to 1. 

If the SELECTIONEFFECT option is set to 1 and all selection options are set to ON, please ensure that the correct graphics card is being used.
